Mayawati lashed out at PM

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ‘double speak’ that no individual or group would be allowed to instigate riots in the name of religion or faith.

“During his ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the PM reiterated that no one fromany faith would be allowed to take law into their hand like he did during his Independence Day speech from Red Fort. But what happened in Haryana clearly shows that the BJP was patronising the Dera supporters who went berserk after Ram Rahim was convicted for rape,” said Mayawati.

In a statement released on Monday, the BSP cchief said, ‘’Modi always indulges in double speak. On one hand, he condemns violence, on the other his government atHaryana gave a free hand to the marauding protesters.’’

Further citing example, she said that when the country was griveing the death anniversary of Dr Ambedkar on December 6, 1992, the BJP and its partners demolished the disputed structure at Ayodhya clearly indicating that hardly cared about the iconic leader.

Mayaawati said that the violence in Haryana and other places after the Ram Rahim’s conviction on Friday reminded one the Gujarat riots of 2002 when Modi was the CM there.

Demanding that Modi and his Chief Ministers exhibit more responsibility, the BSP chief said the brazen act of ineptitude shown by Haryana government indicate that they were helpless against the rowdy protestors. Mayawati had demanded sacking of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar on moral grounds for failing to contain the violence by Dera supporters.
