Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati lashed out at the Bharatiya Janta Party government both at the Centre and the state for the mishap at the NTPC Uchachar unit which left about three dozen employees dead. In a statement released in lucknow on Monday, Mayawati, expressed her condolences to the families of the 34 employees of the NTPC who died at the Unchahahr plant mishap and held the BJP governments at the Centre and UP responsible for the tragedy.  “The governments at teh Centre and UP have become insensitive towards masses. For BJP leaders, the value of human life was of littlee value as compared with animals. The NTPC disaster is a criminal offence for which only the Centre is to be blamed,” said the BSP chief.  “The present BJP government in UP is only interested in changing the colour of government buildings and misusing funds to politicize government machinery,” she said. “When children and people are dying on a daily basis at government hospitals, the BJP regime in the state was interested in colour of government buildings and doing nothing to serve the people for which they were elected,” the BSP chief said while attacking the ruling party. She claimed that the UP ministers were interested in cheap publicity rather than performing their duties. “The present government considers ‘Gau Raksha’ (cow protection) as its only work ignoring important public interest works,” she pointed out. Her remarks came days after lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan, known as Secretariat Annexe and houses the CM’s office, was given a saffron coat replacing the traditional white and blue colour. Mayawati also charged that the law and order in the state has deteriorated further and the BJP government has failed to deliver.
