Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati hailed the Election Commission announcement of five phase elections for Bihar Assembly. She also alerted the EC of probable mischief by the BJP and its allies to influence the electorate.
``The increase in DA of Central Government employees just before the announcement of Assembly elections in Bihar is a calculated move of the BJP to influence the voters,” asserted Mayawati while adding that though 6 per cent is too less when compared to growing inflation and rising prices of commodities.
In a release issued by the party in lucknow on Wednesday evening, Mayawati said that UP government should also announce the same DA for its employees.
Hailing the decision of EC for the five-phase elections, Mayawati said that seeing the situation in Bihar and the festival season, multi -phase polls was a must in Bihar.
“The EC had also taken the right decision to conduct the Bihar polls under the watchful eyes of the Central Para-military Forces (CPMF), which would definitely stop the practice of rigging polls backed by the state machinery.
The BSP chief also advised EC to be alert as the BJP, which allegedly adopted dubious means to win the last Parliament polls, might try the same tactics during Bihar Assembly polls.
lastly, Mayawati asked the EC to ensure that political parties did not fuel communal passion during the coming festival seasons in order to polarise voters on communal lines and benefit electorally.
