Prominent Dalit leader and newly-appointed Chairman of UP Schedule Caste/ Schedule Tribe Finance and Development Corporation, lalji NIrmal said that BSP president Mayawati had no faith in the legacy and ideology of Dr Ambedkar.

Also the chairman of Ambedkar Mahasabha, Nirmal recently hogged limelight after his decision to felicitate Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with `Dalit Mitra’ on April 14 - the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar.

“Mayawati promoted caste-based identity politics but Dr Ambedkar never favoured the same for electoral gains,” Nirmal said.

After taking up his new assignment of Chairman of the Corporation, Nirmal said that due to her narrow caste-based politics, Mayawati opposed Union minister Ramvilas Paswan and even President Ramnath Kovind.

“Our charges were vindicated when Mayawati chose her brother as her political heir,” Nirmal said.

Justifying his decision to fete the CM, Nirmal said that the Gorakshnath Peeth led by Yogi Adityanath has always worked for upliftment of Dalits and other marginalised sections of the society.

He also hailed the CM’s decision to put a photograph of Dr Ambedkar in all government offices and termed it as a `historical decision’.  The new Chairman of SC/ST Finance Development Corporation announced that he would provide all possible financial help to boost entrepreneurship among Dalit youths.
