With the Bollywood ganging up against the Censor Board and alleged interference by the Union government's impeding the release of controversial film `Udta Punjab’, BSP chief Mayawati extended her support to the movie and flayed the BJP led Union government for playing politics.
The BSP chief said that the film is based on factual effects of drug among the youths in the state and would only educate and caution them against drug abuse.
"Hence the BSP totally supports the film and demands that the Centre should allow its release on time," she added.
The former UP chief minister also criticised VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi for floating the outlandish concept of 'Muslim free India'. She said that Sadhvi had the support of the BJP which always adopts such tactics to polarise the vote bank.
She questioned the silence of the top BJP leaders over the disparaging statements made by Sadhvi Prachi.
Mayawati also reiterated her demand for a CBI probe into Mathura violence and announced that if her party came to power in UP after the 2017 Assembly polls, then the criminals and mafias elements of the ruling SP would find themselves behind the bar.
"We will have a clear agenda that all land grabbers of the present SP regime will have to cool their heels in jail and face legal action," she told reporters.
"The Mathura incident has exposed both the SP and the BJP. Both the UP and the Union governments are responsible for such violence after land grabbing by some people. But now both parties are in acting mode to confuse the masses," she charged.
While pressing for a CBI probe into the Mathura incident, the BSP chief also charged the BJP led Central government of misusing the agency for taming political adversaries.
"The Centre has tried to misuse the CBI in West Bengal and Kerala before the Assembly polls but their move boomeranged," she said and apprehended that the BJP might use the CBI against political opponents in UP.
