Former chief minister and Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati denounced chief minister Akhilesh Yadav for keeping the anti-dalit mindset and calling the monuments and memorials constructed under her regime as misuse of money.
“The SP, the BJP and the Congress have ruled at the state and the Centre for the maximum tenure, but what is the result,” Ms Mayawati said while addressing an election meeting in Azamgarh on Saturday afternoon.
“I feel sorry to know the thinking of Akhilesh Yadav and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav...they would have been rearing cattle in Safai, if Father of the Indian Constitution Dr Bheem Rao Ambedkar would not have ensured equal rights to people while framing the constitutional laws.” “Mr Yadav is calling the construction of memorials and monuments in the name of Dalit icons as misuse of money, which indicates his mindset,” she added.
BSP supreme even alleged that Mulayam was contesting election from Azamgarh just to `please his second wife’. “There is a dispute going on in Mulayam’s family. He is contesting from here (Azamgarh) to please his second wife and pave way for their son Prateek Yadav,” she said while taking on her arch rival..
On Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav referring to her as his ‘bua’ (aunt) at a recent public meeting in Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati said it would be an “insult” even to consider him (Akhilesh) as her younger brother.  “Akhilesh used to insult dalit icons. He terms construction of memorials in their names as wastage of money despite the fact it generates income for the state,” she said. The former UP CM further chided the SP for the growing crime rate and rising incidents of communal violence.  She also appealed to the people not to cast their vote to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Asking Yadav community to wake up, Mayawati said they should come out of Mulayam’s “mental slavery”. Alleging the SP and tbe BJP had tacit understanding, Mayawati said Modi was contesting from Varanasi and Mulayam from Azamgarh due to their pact.  Had Mulayam wanted to prevent Modi from winning, he  should have contested from Varanasi, Mayawati said.  Mayawati alleged Mulayam would leave Azamgarh after elections.  “While Modi will leave Varanasi and retain Vadodra, Mulayam will retain Mainpuri,” she said.
