Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati held the BJP and Narendra Modi government responsible for the terror unleashed by supporters of Dera Saccha Sauda in Haryana, Punjab and other states, after the conviction of Gurmeet Ram Rahim in a rape case. She demanded the immediate dismissal of Haryana chief minister Manohar lal Khattar.
“The vote politics of the BJP has led to a situation of anarchy in the country and 30 people were killed while 500 trains had to be cancelled and properties of several thousand crore rupees were destroyed,” she asserted.
In a statement released in lucknow on Saturday, Mayawati alleged that the Haryana CM intentionally did not allow the Army to take control of the situation and the local police became spectators while the rioters had a field day.
Alleging that the Haryana government had committed contempt of High Court in maintaining law and order in the state, the BSP chief said that now the BJP government was preventing the HC from auctioning the property of Dera Saccha Sauda to compensate for the losses in the violence. “The Haryana government patronisedd the protesters just for vote bank politics,” she charged.
Comparing Friday’s violence to that of December 6,1992, Mayawati said,”The BJP and its allies outfits demolished the disputed structure at Ayodhya violating the Constitution and law.”
She also condemned the statement of BJP MP Shaskhi Maharaj who defended convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim and said that such views of a BJP leader proved the anti-women sentiment of the party.
“The statement of Shakshi exposes the real picture of the BJP and it’s support to the rapist and violence by it’s supporters. Such leaders have no respect for the dignity of a woman and must be immediately removed from the post,” she said.
