Mayawati charges Congress going against Dalits

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati  termed the Dalit Conclave of Congress in lucknow as an effort to cover up for their anti-dalit stand and to woo the community ahead of the 2017 Assembly polls.

“Congress has always gone against the well being of the dalits which forced Kanshiram ji to float the BSP on April 14, 1984 and ensure that the rights of the oppressed section was preserved,” she said.

“ The Conclave is nothing but a desperate effort to cover up for their misdeed in the last 67 years. But dalits would never forgive the Congress for their unfair and discriminatory treatment,” said the BSP chief.

In a statement released on Thursday morning, Mayawati  also criticised the BJP and PM Narendra Modi and equated him with Rahul Gandhi on the issue of doing politics to get votes from the dalits and farmers.

“Rahul Gandhi is doing the same thing like PM Narendra Modi, who after taken several anti-farmers policy was now starting ‘ Kisan Rallies”, the BSP chief alleged.

The former CM also did not spare the SP rtegime and targeted it on the law and order front. “ The law and order situation in the state is at its lowest ebb. Now even murders are taking place near the DGP office which clearly points towards the real picture of jungle raj in the state,” she charged.

The BSP president also criticised the BJP government of Rajasthan for allowing male officials to take measurements of women candidates appearing for the examination of ‘Vanpal’ post in the Forest department. The act points towards the chauvinistic culture where in a male could take measurements of a woman candidate during the physical test,” she said.

Mayawati also condemned the statement of a BJP MP from Maharastra who had said that suicides by farmers were just a ‘ fashion’. “Such statements prove that the BJP is insensitive towards the plight of the farmers and the poor,” she claimed.
