Bahujan Samaj party (BSP) chief Mayawati attacked the new CM face of Congress Sheila Dikshit alleging that during her tenure as CM of Delhi, she ignored the welfare of Dalits, backwards and poor.
“Congress was trying to confuse the people by appointing a turncoat Raj Babbar and Sheila Dikshit, whose tenure was mired in corruption. This also shows that the Congress has focus and there is a dearth of leaders in the state unit,” she said in a statement issued in lucknow on Friday.
“During her tenure as CN, Dikshit diverted funds meant for welfare of Dalits, backwards and the poor for unnecessary expenditure. Besides her involvement in corruption in the organising of Commonwealth Games, Delhi Jal Board are well pnown facts. She has been appointed as CM face merely to garner Brahmin votes which is set to boomerang for the Congress,” she stressed.
“Annoiting Raj Babbar as state chief also proves that the Congress has no leader left in UP and was forced to hand over reins to a turncoat. These changes will hardly benefit the party. The Brahmins will not bit the bait as they know that only the BSP did something substantial for them,” she said.
