Attacking Bharatiya Janta Party leaders for their involvement in corruption and irregularities including recently the busted petrol pump scam in the state, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said that the saffron outfit was exploiting the people and pitching for patriotism and 'gau raksha' (cow protection) to divert public attention from its wrongdoings.
"Most of those who have looted the people, were found to be associated with the BJP. The role of the BJP and its supporters has been exposed in the latest scam in petrol pumps in UP," Mayawati was quoted as saying in an official release.
Addressing party leaders from Maharastra and Telangana in lucknow on Wednesday, Mayawati said,"The BJP's 'narrow and divisive' policies and 'hollow deshbhakti (patriotism)' were getting exposed gradually and soon people will become totally disenchanted with the party."
"After forming a government at the Centre and in different states, the BJP has emerged as a party that exploited the people," she said at the meeting urging party workers to take to the streets and expose the saffron leaders.
She regretted that because of lack of political awareness, the poor, farmers, Dalits and other backwards communities were still being exploited and ignored.
Interestingly, BSP leaders and workers from Maharastra and Telangana had highlighted that how influenced by Rastriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), the BJP leaders were doing excesses on minorities and other weaker sections including Dalits and only facilitating the corporate sectors.
