Mayawati all set to campaign throughout the state for UP polls

Published on:

After taking lead in announcing the candidates much ahead of others, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati, with her ideology of ‘akela chalo re’ , is all set to cover the entire state during the Assembly polls by addressing more than 50 public meetings in a short span of 30 days.

Unlike other parties where host of senior leaders will address to seek support for their parties, Mayawati will take on Party’s campaign alone on her own  shoulder.    It may be mentioned that none of the other political parties including Bharatiya Janta Party, Congress, Samajwadi Party etc has so far come out with the schedule of campaign program of their top leaders.

Mayawati will kick off her electioneering on Wednesday by addressing a rally at TP Nagar in Meerut and Banna Devi in  Aligarh, the two west Uttar Pradesh districts which will go to the polls in the first phase on February 11.  On Thursday, she will address two rallies in Bulundshahr and Hathras districts.

On Friday, she will address rallies in the communally sensitive Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts. On February 4, she will address meetings in Bareilly, Pilibhit, Mainpuri and Ferozabad and on February 5, the BSP president will hold meetings in Agra, Kannauj, Farrukahbad and Mathura districts.   She will end her campaign in Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on March 4.

The BSP supremo will touch almost all the districts in her bid to reach out to voters.  She would not only touch the SP stronghold of Etawah and Kannauj, but also Congress bastions of Amethi and Rae Bareli. She will also address a rally in Gorakhpur, the strong hold of BJP’s firebrand MP Yogi Adityanath.   In all, Mayawati is expected to address at least 14 rallies in West UP alone where she seeks to play a formidable Dalit-Muslim consolidation card.

The jinx of Noida, however, appears to haunt her. She will not address a rally in Gautam Buddh Nagar, where her native village Badalpur is situated. In Rohilkhand and central UP region, the BSP supremo will address a rally each in lucknow and Kanpur on the same day  on February 14. The very next day, she will address a rally in Rae Bareli, the parliamentary constituency of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.   The former CM is also to address at least five rallies in the politically crucial Bundelkhand region.  Though Mayawati has been distancing herself from religion, she has decided not to hold a rally on Mahashivratri.
