Continuing her attack on Bharatiya Janta Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said that the PM’s recent visit to Kedarnath was an exercise to divert public attention from failures of the Central government. She accused Modi of using religion for reaping political gains out of it.

Mayawati made the statements while chairing a review meet of Punjab and Haryana in lucknow on Thursday. She said that whenever the Modi government fails, top BJP leaders and the PM start visiting temples across the country. She said that the BJP has (mis)used religion for poll benefit many times.

The BSP chief charged that there was a disturbed atmosphere in country due to ‘saffron appeasement’ policy of the BJP. Senior BSP leaders and central in-charges of the party were present at the review meeting. Senior leaders presented their ground report of party’s position and activities in different states.
