Mayawati: Outsiders threatening voters in Varanasi

Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati has questioned the impartiality of Election Commission over holding election in Narendra Modi’s Varanasi constituency.

Polling in Varanasi is to be held in the last round on Sunday.

“Why has the Election Commission not been so attentive in Varanasi when it has acted so fast in West Bengal?” Mayawati asked, alleging that in Varanasi, supporters of Modi were adopting all types of illegal methods and even threatening voters.

The BSP chief alleged that even outsiders had been summoned to Varanasi from across the country to manage victory for Modi.

In a tweet on Friday, the BSP president said when the Bharatiya Janata Party workers were going to every household in Varanasi to seek vote and threaten the voters, how could a free and fair poll be held there.

On Thursday also, Mayawati had commented that the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh tried to create a West Bengal-like situation in UP but the SP-BSP alliance thwarted their conspiracy and would not let it happen till the last phase of election was completed.

Mayawati, during her campaign has frequently attacked the BJP and the Prime Minister.
