Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has welcomed the judgement of Supreme Court reinstating the Congress government in Arunachal Pradesh.
On Wednesday, a Constitutional bench of the Supreme Court ordered status quo of the Arunachal Pradesh government as on December 15, 2015.
"The Union government should learn from the judgement which would serve as a milestone in the country's democracy. This is the second episode after Uttarakhand that the SC had to reinstate a sacked government," she said in a statement issued in lucknow on Wednesday.
"For the first time in the country's history, a state government dislodged seven months back has been reinstated and a seven-month old government had to go. The Apex court ruling is a clear verdict against the Centre and points out it did not follow the Constitutional norms," said Mayawati.
Meanwhile, the UP Congress too welcomed the decision and demanded the immediate resignation of Narendra Modi.
"The judgement of the Constitutional Bench of Apex Court clearly points out how the Centre dislodged a democratically elected government for vested interests. The PM should immediately resign taking moral resposnibility for the entire episode,” alleged Cairman of UPCC Media Cell, Satyadeo Tripathi on Wednesday.
