Maya supports parties opposing screening of PK

Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati indirectly supported political parties opposing screening of the Bollywood film PK saying no picture should hurt the religious sentiments of people.

“The Bollywood director-producer should avoid making such films which hurt the sentiments of people on religion or caste lines. The Film Censor Board passing the film should also thoroughly examine such movies before giving its approval,” she told reporters here. Mayawati advised the film industry not to project anything objectionable on religion as these issues were grabbed by political parties for their vested interests.

The BSP supremo, however, admitted that she had not seen the film. “I do not find time to watch films. I do not have that much of free time. I don’t know how some of the politicians find time to watch movies,” she said, indirectly hitting out at Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who said that everyone should watch this movie. Earlier, UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had made the Amir Khan film tax-free in UP after watching it on the night of December 30.
