Breaking her silence over the Kairana exodus controversy, BSP chief Mayawati hit out at both the BJP and the SP accusing them of rumour mongering to create communal strife ahead of the 2017 polls and failing to come clean on the issue, respectively.
"The ruling SP failed to counter the BJP charges. Thanks to the media which thwarted the conspiracy by exposing the truth about the cooked up claims of Hinsu exodus from Kairana," she asserted.
Speaking to the media in lucknow on Tuesday, Mayawati said that the BJP convened a national executive meet in Allahabad to sound the bugle for the UP polls and it was clear that their agenda revolved around communal polarisation.
"Within hours of its failure to ensure victory of Preeti Mahapatra in the Rajya Sabha poll in UP, the BJP pitchforked the Kairana issue with the intention of communally dividing the society in western UP. Fortunately the media busted the lies of the BJP," she pointed out. The former UP chief minister claimed that there have been exodus from Bundelkhand and other parts of UP merely due to faulty policies of the governments in UP and at the Centre. Both failed in esnuring jobs and business oppurtunities to the youth.
"law and order is in a shambles in UP rendering the people insecure. And not only the SP regime, but the BJP and the Congress are equally responsible for it," Mayawati said.
" If the BJP was so concerned about dipping law and order in UP why are they not initiating steps to impose President's rule in the state," she asked.
Replying to charges of PM Narendra Modi alleging that BSP and SP have been forming governments in UP and protecting the corruption of each other, Mayawati said that the PM should correct his facts. "The previous BSP government acted in cases of corrupt practices during Mulayam Singh Yadav's regime like Police
Recruitment scam and others and all these cases are pending in the court," she said. Mayawati appealed to the people not to get confused by the macginations of the BJP and the SP, as they are trying to confuse and divert their attention from the pressing crises in the state.
"The BJP is misusing public fund for celebrating NDA's two years in office, which is unacceptable. The funds misused on functions could have been spent for people of drought-hit Bundelkhand and provide succour to the poor," she said.
"On the other hand, the SP government was merely propagating false claims of development when 22 crore population in the state were facing severe law and order problem," Mayawati charged.
