Stunned by the BJP questioning financial integrity and calling her a `money spinner’, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati hit out at Amit Shah saying such comments only potrays the casteist mindset of the party.
The BJP chied had dubbed the BSP as ‘note chaapne ki machine’ while addressing a rally in Mau on Friday and said that ‘the number of currency counting machines set up at Mayawati’s residence have increased over the years’.
On Sunday, Mayawati while chairing a meet of office bearers and leaders in lucknow said, “The BSP has transfromed the bahujan samaj from ‘lene wala’ (seeker) to `dene wala’ (provider). With small donations from them, I have tried to take the ‘humanist movement’ forward for ensuring respect and rights for the downtrodden. This has riled the casteist parties and they are coming up with weird accusations.”
“We don’t take donation from corporate houses or industries but a small donation made by sarva samaj is always acceptable. My birthday is also celebrated as Arthik Sahyog Diwas every year,” she said.
Criticising the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, the BSP chief said that the promise of ‘acche din’ has vanished and the people were facing from worse days than earlier.
Mayawati cautioned the cadre and leaders to be aware about the conspiracy hatched by Opposition parties against the BSP and stressed that except her party, no other outfit including the BJP, the SP or the Congress were serious in the next Assembly polls in UP.
“These parties are trying everything to hit the BSP below the belt. But we will not succumb to any such conspiracy. Both the BJP government at the Centre and the SP government in UP have failed and now people are looking towards the BSP,” she said.
Commenting on the SP government, the former CM said that development in the state has been derailed and projects under implementation will never be completed because of rampant corruption. “Corruption is rampant and recent caving in of several bridges in the state capital is an ample proof of corruption,” she pointed out.
During the meet, the BSP chief took stock of the political activities of the party in different parts of the state with special emphasis on poll preparedness.
