Giving a mantra to end the reign of Gandhi family in Amethi-Rae Bareli belt BSP supremo Mayawati said that if Thakurs and backwards caste join dalits, the supremacy of Gandhi family could end in Amethi.
Addressing an election meeting in Sultanpur in support of party candidates Pawan Pandey and Dr Dharmendra Pratap Singh from Sultanpur and Amethi parliamentary constituencies respectively, she said that she had given tickets to members of all the caste on general seats.
‘’The party has supported sarv Samaj for the welfare of the society and expect such support in the election in return,” she said.
Mayawati said that the UPA government at the Centre was conspiring against the dalits and the backwards by denying reservation to them in the jobs. ‘’BSP will not allow this to happen because this provision was made after the untiring efforts of Dr B R Ambedkar,’’ she said.
Not only this, the former UP chief minister said that she had also written to the Centre for reservation of upper castes but no reponse came.
Coming down on the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, the BSP supremo said that several factories in Amethi had closed down despite Congress yuvraj representing this constituency. ‘’As chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, I had written to the Centre to re-start this closed factories but nothing was done,’’ she said.
She claimed if the party got sufficient seats then a dalit woman could be the prime minister of the country. ‘’The closed industrial units in Amethi and Rae Bareli would be revived if BSP government is made at the Centre,’’ she added.
