The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has criticised the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati for doing politics over the dalit vote bank on the name of Rohit Vemula while had ignored the Dalit atrocities in the state.
“The BSP president was very much concerned about Rohit Vemula but why she is silent when dalits in Uttar Pradesh are being killed almost every day. There are incidents of rape of dalit women and killing of leaders working for dalit cause but Mayawati is silent,” asks state BJP president laxmikant Bajpai.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Bajpai said that BSP chief was only interested in doing politics over dalit issues and is shedding tears for them. She gives audience to the family members of Rohith Vemula but no BSP leader has ever raised killing of dalits in UP, he said.
He questioned Ms Mayawati silence on the gruesome murder of a dalit Arun Mahaur in Agra, rape and murder of Dalit woman Anshu Rawat in lucknow and similar incidents of rape and murder of Dalit women in Saharanpur, Bareilly and other part of the state.
“Did Mayawati or any other senior BSP leader ever met any of the family members of those dalits who were killed or raped. It seems that the BSP leaders are in nexus with the ruling Samajwadi Party in UP hence, they are not raising these issues,” Bajpai said.
Demanding an explanation from the BSP on the issue, the state BJP president alleged that the people of the state are also aware of the drama of Mayawati on the name of her Dalit love. “People will teach her a lesson in 2017 elections,” he said.
