Maya demands ban against Bajrang dal's camp

Flaying the arms training camps organised by Bajrang Dal, Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) chief Mayawati demanded a ban on such camps and action against the offenders.

“Camps run by Bajrang Dal activists are illegal and a concerted effort to drive fear among other communities. If these were not stopped, then other communities too could start such camps leading to law and order situation,” she said in a statement released in lucknow on Thursday.

Mayawati said that since the Centre was indirectly promoting such anti-social elements, hence the SP government in UP, should initiate action against these elements and ban such activities.

“The UP government should strengthen its Intelligence wing so that inputs on such illegal camps could be received before hand,” she said.

Expressing concern over Governor Ram Naik’s takle that it was a mere self-defence exercise, Mayawati said, “The Governor needs to work as per the ethos of the Constitution. It is also to be seen that if all sections were allowed to give training in use of arms, what will be its impact on the society and country.”

She accused both the Union and UP governments for trying to communalise the state with an eye on the 2017 Assembly polls.

Meanwhile, the police arrested a Bajrang  Dal activist in Faizabad on Wednesday night, for organising a arms training camp at Ayodhya.
