Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati demanded the immediate sacking of Assam Governor, PB Acharya for his controversial statement that India was for Hindus and said that legal action be taken against him.
"The act of the Governor, who is a constitutional head, stating such words is deplorable and he should be sacked immediately. In fact, legal action should be taken against him," she said. In a statement released by the BSP office in lucknow on Monday, Mayawati said that now intolerance has turned into a ' disease' and leaders and their cronies are trying to create a wedge among different communities in the country.
''He has made a communal remark which can be a threat to India’s sovereignty. The President should immediately dismiss him,” she suggested. The BSP leader further alleged that the situation has become critical as the Central government had appointed RSS backed leaders on Constitutional posts and they are brazenly violating the norms.
The former UP CM also claimed that India is a country of diverse societies and people from different caste, community and religion stay with harmony but some people are trying to create a rift amongst them.
