Uttar Pradesh minority welfare minister Mohd Azam Khan has alleged that Bahujan Samaj Party ( BSP ) Supremo Mayawati was trying to create disorder in the state by supporting the Jat agitation.
Talking to media persons in Rampur on Sunday Khan said if Mayawati was so concerned about the Jat community why she did not given reservation during her regime in the state.
"At that time when she could actually do something for the community she kept silent. Now, he is speaking to get political mileage out of this situation. It would be better if Mayawati does not give statements in this issue at this point of time because the situation is very volatile,” he said.
Earlier in the day Mayawati had supported Jat agitation but also appealed to them to be disciplined and hold peaceful demonstration. She had asked the people not to set public and private properties on fire.
When asked that Jat have started demonstrations in west UP too, he said people of UP have come in support of Haryana but their agitation has been peaceful. There are no repots of break in law and order, he said..
Khan , was however very critical on Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Maulana Ahmed Bukhari saying the Imam and RSS are two sides of the same coin. “It is unfortunate that people like Bukhari has doing “saudebaazi” on the namne of Muslims. The members of minority community have rejected this Shahi Imam. As election is round the cornor he is out with his bargain power,” the minister said.
When he was told the CM has assured that his demands would be met Khan said he did not know what demands Maulana has put forward to CM. This issue is between them and is no one to comment on this, he said.
