Maya accuses Congress, SP and BJP of cheating backwards, Dalits

Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati has accused Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party and Samajwadi Party of cheating the backwards and Dalits from time to time in giving them reservation.

In a series of tweets on Thursday, the BSP chief wrote, "The Congress government in the past did not allow the implementation of the Mandal Commission's report on reservation for Backward Classes. Along with this reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes was also made ineffective and now, the BJP is also following in the footsteps of Congress in this matter. This attitude is very serious."

She further said, "The SP government also did not give full rights, especially to the Most Backward Classes. The SC, ST reservation in promotion was abolished by them while they tore the Bill related to this in Parliament and did not allow it to be passed. People of all these classes should be careful of the SP."

Mayawati said the BSP had given SCs, STs as well Backwards the rights of reservation when it was in power in UP. “But now people should be aware of the double faces of these political parties,” she said.

The BSP supremo has called a meeting of the party here on Friday in which she is likely to discuss the strategy for the coming urban local bodies’ polls in the state as well as how to take up the reservation issue to the masses to make them aware of the double standard of the other parties including the BJP.
