On his first birthday after taking over as the state BJP president Keshav Maurya visited Ram temple at Ayodhya and sought the blessings of lord Ram for the majority to the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2017 state assembly election. It was the maiden visit by Keshav Maurya, MP, to Ayodhya after he was appointed as the state BJP president on April 17.
During his 125 km long road journey from lucknow to Faizabad and Ayodhya Keshav Maurya addressed several dozen whistle stop meetings and launched scathing attack on the Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party government. Maurya accused the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav of being the "most insensitive chief minister of the state who was indulging in petty politics even as the people of perched Bundelkhand was dying of starvation and facing serious worst ever water crisis".
"It high time for the people of UP to get rid from the vicious grip of the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party. Both the parties are patently anti people and have looted the people of the state during the last over one decade," alleged Maurya during his meeting all along the lucknow—Faizabad national highway.
Maurya accused Akhilesh Yadav government of not being serious about tackling drought in Bundelkhand after it sought Rs 11000 crore package, saying it had failed to take any long term measure to check the perennial problem and there was huge corruption in relief works.
"The government is insensitive and not serious. Every year Bundelkhand suffers from drought. It has failed in putting in long term measures. It has a right to seek fund from the Centre but the state administration had recently noted that it had spent only 5 per cent of a previous package of Rs 850 crore," said Keshav Maurya.
"The SP government shows a lot of keenness and promptness in putting out various advertisements about its successes which are hardly visible on ground. Had it shown some of this in tackling drought, then Bundelkhand would be in a better condition," said Keshav Maurya.
Talking to the media after visiting the make shift Ram temple at Ayodhya Maurya said that "BJP won in lok Sabha elections under Narendra Modi’s leadership, and we will also sweep in assembly elections of UP in 2017, Ram Mandir will not be a poll issue, but I pray to Ram lalla to remove all hurdles in the path of the construction of Ram temple".
He said in his prayers at the Ram temple he prayed for the blessings of Ram lalla for 265 plus seats in 2017 state assembly elections.
Maurya alleged that the Akhilesh Yadav government is creating hurdles in the implementation of the development programmes launched by the Union government for the poor people of the state. On the controversy over the water train stranded at Jhansi railway station, Keshav Maurya said, “UP government instead of helping the drought stricken people of Bundelkhand was infect rubbing slat on their wounds by creating controversy over water train which was totally unwarranted.
Maurya received a warm welcome in the twin towns of Faizabad-Ayodhya, the traditional bastion of the BJP. After 1991 assembly election, BJP lost the Faizabad –Ayodhya assembly seat in 2012 assembly elections to the Samajwadi Party. Maurya on Saturday turned 47; he celebrated his birthday in Faizabad by cutting the cake on the bonnet of his SUV. The cake was arranged by local BJP supporters.
