Maurya hits out at BSP

Hitting out at the BSP, state BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya said that large scale exodus of party workers has made Mayawati jittery as she knows that her party is out of the race in the coming Assembly polls.

“The support base of BSP is shrinking fast. People have started deserting the party – which is a proverbial sinking ship. The inevitablity of being routed in the polls stares at Mayawati's face. This has made her nervous,” Maurya told reporters in lucknow on Tuesday.

The BJP leader said that the BSP faced an ignominious defeat in lok Sabha polls and the party is destined to face the same fate in the Assembly elections.

“The BSP has so far not staged a single agitation in support of the people during the SP regime. This points towards a tacit understanding between the two parties,” he said.

“The BSP and the SP both had supported the UPA government. Now with the polls approaching, Mayawati is attacking the SP government. The fact is both the parties have been exposed,” he said.

When asked about Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s statement on the possiblility of Assembly elections being held in December, Maurya said that the BJP is ready to face elections even today.

“We have our preparations in place. Our booth-level meetings have been a great success. There is enthusiasm among workers. This dedication of our team will help us to win the Assembly polls this time,” he said.

Taking a jibe at the ruling SP, the state BJP chief said that the whole episode of merger of QED with the SP was a drama. "This was enacted with the aim to project a clean image of Akhilesh Yadav and the episode was directed by a leader sitting in Saifai," said he.

“Who does not know what relations Mokhtar Ansari enjoys with SP leaders. These people supported the SP during Rajya Sabha and Vidhan Parishad biennial elections. If Akhilesh hated these brothers so much, then why did he take their help in during the polls, " asked Maurya.

He stressed that these plans will not work this time as people are fed up with the goonda raj of Akhilesh Yadav government. "This is now for sure that the Akhilesh Yadav government will be voted out of power," he said.

Meanwhile, the BJP has decided to protest in all police stations to highlight poor law and order situation in the state. A co-ordination committee has been formed which will finalise the region-wise protests
