Maurya hit out at Maya

Hitting out at Mayawati, state BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya said that the people have `rejected’ the BSP in the lok Sabha elections of 2014 and it would face the same fate in the forthcoming Assembly polls.

He was reacting to Mayawati’s statement at a Azamgarg rally where she had claimed that all leaders rejected by the BSP have found refuge with the BJP. She was talking specifically about Swamy Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Patahk who had recently joined the BJP.

“Mayawati seems to be more concerned about `rejected’ leaders. I can make it clear that after Assembly polls, the BJP will not take `rejected’ Mayawati in its fold,” Maurya said in a statement issued in lucknow on Monday.

He said that the BSP chief’s politics veers around Dalits but when they need her in times of crisis, she does not have time to stand by them.

“When Dalits are being battered by the police and people of upper castes, it is the BJP which is standing by them. It extends helping hand to Dalits and takes steps to bring the culprits to book,” he said.

Maurya also attacked Mulayam Singh Yadav saying his statement against Ram Bhakts was addressed to please a section of society. “People will not forget how Mulayam Singh had used force against Ram Bhakts to intimidate them and the way he has justified his action shows that he is desperate to get back the support of Muslims,” he said.

The state BJP chief also blamed the Akhilesh Yadav regime for not extending adequate help to flood-ravaged people of the state. “These people need money. But the SP government is busy spending huge money on the beautification of Gomti riverfront,” he pointed out.
