Maurya asks Akhilesh to resign

The Akhilesh Yadav Government might have tried to project itself as a government with zero tolerance on corruption by sacking two ministers, opposition has called the action as an `eye wash’ and demanded that Chief Minister should tender resignation on moral ground.

BJP state president Keshav Prasad Maurya questioned if SP Government is against corruption why it gave petition in High Court to stop CBI probe against illegal mining. “Government sacked its corrupt ministers to save its skin and project itself clean,” Maurya said in a written statement released here on Monday.

He said that Chief Minister took this decision after it got a rap from High Court. “The Chief Minister who defends corruption in High Court has no right to continue in power. He should tender his resignation on moral ground,” he said.

BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that the action was too late as these ministers have already siphoned off several thousand crore of rupees from the public exchequer. “Sacking these ministers five months prior to elections will not serve any purpose for the Samajwadi Party as people know whom these ministers were serving,” he said.

BSP state chief Ram Achal Rajbhar said that Samajwadi Party would be wiped out because people do not like a corrupt government. What is more shocking is that SP’s national president Mulayam Singh Yadav knew about corruption of his ministers but did not take action against them,” he said.

On the other hand Congress general secretary and media committee vice-chairman Maroof Khan said the sacking of the ministers proves that Akhilesh Yadav knows about his certain defeat in the coming assembly polls.

“Such cosmetic action would not at all change the mindset of the people, who have decided to remove this corrupt SP government,” Khan said.

He said Gyatri Prajapati had links with Mulayam Singh Yadav as he had threatened senior IPS officer  Amitabh Thakur on phone leading to registration of an FIR against the SP president.
