Demanding a CBI enquiry into the Mathura violence, the BJP said that the incident was a reflection of poor law and order situation in the state and the ruling Samajwadi Party government will have to do give a lot of explanation.
leader of BJP legislature party Suresh Khanna said that recovery of cache of ammunition from Jawahar Bagh in Mathura pointed towards the failure of the SP regime. CM Akhilesh Yadav needs to tell people as to where did these guns came from and why did the government fail to weed out these people from the park in the last two years.
“The government woke up only after the High Court issued eviction orders. The primary question is how these people were allowed to set up their tents on government land,” he querried and added that a CBI probe into the issue should be initiated.
State BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya said that the CM should tell what action his government has taken against the criminals and he should explain who are responsible for the violence.
“This government has lost moral right to stay in power for a second,” said Maurya.
MP from Gorakhpur Mahant Yogi Aditya Nath said that the tragic incident at Mathura highlighted the poor law and order situation in UP where police is on the receiving end all the time.
“Since Samajwadi Party came to power in 2012, several policemen have lost their lives. What will happen in a state where police is being brutalized while criminals are patronized by ruling party leaders,” he said in a statement released from Gorakhpur.
Yogi said that the more depressing part is that the SP government pays compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the family belonging to a community while it hesitates to pay Rs 20 lak to martyrs.
The MP said that every day news of murder, loot, kidnapping and rape are all over the newspapers and channels. "Even criminals escape from police custody. This shows of law and order condition of UP. This incident happened because of lack of co-ordination between the Intelligence and the district police,” he said.
