In order to ease the process of marriage registration under Hindu Marriage Act 1955, and to make it transparent, U.P. Stamp and Registration Department has taken an initiative to provide the facility online.
Mehtaab Singh and Rameshwari Devi are the first couple to register their marriage online under pilot project started at Sadar sub-registrar office in district Barabanki.
Online Hindu Marriage Registration facility will be available in the entire Uttar Pradesh after examining the process for 10 days.
Informing about the initiative Inspector General, Registration Ashish Goyal said online registration of Hindu marriages was an important component of computerisation project of Stamp and Registration department.
He told that soon documents would be registered on computers in all sub-registrar offices in the state with online facility of stamp and registration fee submission. He said that the department was developing e-payment system with cooperation of NIC, which would be applicable in the entire state soon.
Goyal informed that under this system, the applicant can fill the marriage registration form on department’s website www.igrsup.gov.in and required documents can be uploaded after scanning them.
After online submission of form, a unique number would be given to the applicant, on the basis of which the newlywed couple could get the registration done at concerned sub-registrar office. In future, he said that people could get their certification online. He has directed all sub-registrars to complete the work of computerisation by the end of this month.
Principal Secretary, Stamp and Registration Anil Kumar said that the department was working towards e-governance and it was planned to make the entire process of registration online, so that common people were not required to wait for registry. He expressed gratitude to NIC for making good progress in this regard.
