Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that recent quake that rocked Nepal killing thousands was a clear warning that man should not play with nature as it leads to environment imbalance resulting to such catastrophe. “Recently we witnessed unseasonal rains followed by hail storm damaging crop worth thousands of rupees. And now, our neighbouring country faced such a disaster whose ripples were also felt in our state. Efforts should now be made to respect and preserve the nature,” Yadav said while inaugurating a cycle rally named Cyclogreen-2015 here on Sunday.
He said all the voluntary organisations should come forward and educate people about preserving our nature. They should involve people. They should tell them about the ills of destroying environment. “What happened in last few months is a clear eye opener. We cannot play with nature. We will have to pay dearly for our follies,” Chief Minister said.
“On our part the Samajwadi Party Government has taken initiative to preserve nature. Janeshwar Mishra Park and Ram Manohar lohia park have emerged as lung of the city. They are providing valuable oxygen to the people who come in the morning and evening for walk,” Yadav said. Besides, the Samajwadi Party Government is promoting cycling. Proposal has been sanctioned to construct cycle tracks in lucknow and Agra. The aim is to reduce air pollution. Tourists can hire cycles to visit historic monuments, he said.
Interestingly, Cycle is the election symbol of the ruling Samajwadi Party. Chief Minister also talked about the infrastructure projects his government has launched including lucknow Metro and initiatives to improve road link with district headquarter. “The developed should be in sync with protection of nature. Our Government will not take any step that can harm the environment,” Yadav said.
