In a shocking incident, a man burnt his wife alive just because he did not like the vegetable cooked by her.
The incident took place in Banda and before dying, in her statement before the magistrate, the deceased revealed the excesses meted out to her.
Police registered a case in this regard and detained the husband.
The deceased, Jogmaya, was a resident of Khotla Mohalla in Banda Nagar Kotwali area. Jogmaya’s husband, Mukesh (30) often used to beat her up. He alleged that she did not cook food well and that vegetables were not cooked properly by her.
According to the relatives of the deceased, Mukesh used to torture Jogmaya a lot. On Sunday, he came home drunk and accused Jogmaya of not cooking the food well and started beating her mercilessly. Jogmaya kept pleading with her husband not to beat her. The neighbours who came to rescue her were chased away. Later Mukesh poured kerosene over Jogmaya and set her ablaze.
Additional Superintendent of Police Govind Pal said a case had been registered and the accused husband was taken in custody for further action.
