In a bizarre incident, a young girl’s marriage preparations turned into tragedy when her father set the girl’s mother and sister on fire after a tiff with the victims over including names in the wedding guest list in Fatehpur on Sunday night. While the wife succumbed on the way to the hospital, her daughter was battling for her life.
As per reports, Phoolchandra of Lilauli area had an altercation with his wife Susheela (60) and daughter Guddan (35) over including some names of invitees in the guest list for the wedding function of their younger daughter. After learning of the dispute, the neighbours stepped in and calmed the frayed tempers. However, a few hours past Sunday midnight, while Susheela and her daughter Guddan were sleeping, Phoolchand doused them with petrol and set them afire. As the victims screamed for help, the neighbours rushed to their house and found them with serious burn injuries. In the meantime, the husband absconded. The locals somehow doused the fire and informed the local police. Both the injured were taken to a hospital where Susheela succumbed to her injuries while the condition of Guddan was stated to be critical, A case was registered against Phoolchandra and efforts were being made to arrest him.
