In a shocking incident, a man brutally killed his innocent daughter by slitting her throat to appease a deity.
He later threw the naked body of the girl on the bank of the local pond.
Initially, the cops suspected it to be a rape and murder case but after the post-mortem report confirmed that the girl was not sexually assaulted, the cops on suspicion, grilled the father who later broke down and confessed to killing his daughter.
The sensational killing took place in Rajaram Ka Purwa locality of Babhniaon village under Mirganj police station of Jaunpur.
Police arrested the father and exorcist involved in the murder and recovered the knife used in the murder. Both were sent to jail on Monday.
Reports said that last Monday morning (April 24), the naked body of a girl was recovered by the police and sent for post-mortem in Mirganj locality. Initially the identity of the victim could not be ascertained but the next morning, one Banavasi, a resident of Babhniaon, contacted the police and identified the victim as his missing daughter Nandani. He alleged that the circumstantial evidences suggested that his daughter was raped and murdered by someone.
The police, however, after receiving the autopsy report, started probe on the lines of murder as rape theory was ruled out. They finally picked up Banavasi on Sunday after some villagers claimed to have seen him going with his daughter. On being grilled, Banavasi confessed to have killed his daughter under the influence of a local tantrik, identified as Panna.
