In what was reported as a case of honour killing, a man, with the help of his son, allegedly killed his daughter and her lover in Dhanepur police station area of Gonda district.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Ankit Mittal said on Tuesday that Prabhavati, a resident of Mehnaun of Dhanpur police station area, lodged a complaint on Monday evening, citing the disappearance of her son Satish Chaurasia (20) since Sunday night. The SP claimed that the police immediately registered a missing case and started investigation, during which they learnt that Satish had a love affair with a girl of the same village.
Mittal said that they enquired from the girl’s family and found that she was also missing, but her father did not lodge a case in this regard. The police suspected foul play and rounded him up for interrogation. After being grilled overnight, he spilled the beans on Tuesday morning and confessed to have killed his daughter and Satish to save “family’s honour”.
The accused, identified as Kripa Ram, disclosed that with the help of his son Shivram, he murdered Satish after they caught him with his daughter on Sunday night. He said that after killing Satish, they dumped the body at a secluded place about two kilometres away. Kripa Ram disclosed that he also hacked his daughter to death and later buried her in Ayodhya on Monday afternoon.
The police arrested Kripa Ram and Shivram, and also recovered the body of Satish and sent it for autopsy. SHO Satyendra Verma said efforts were being made to get the body of the girl exhumed after taking permission from the Ayodhya district magistrate.
