Islamic scholar and cleric Maulana Mahmood Madni has exorted Muslims to declare Jihad against terrorism. Condemning the recent killings in Paris, Madni dismissed the claims of the ISIS that it was waging a Jihad.
“Waging jihad is a positive act intended to root out evil from the society. Killing innocents can never be an act of jihad. It’s undeniable that terrorist attacks have caused maximum harm to Muslims,’’ said Madni.
“It’s a matter of great concern that terrorists are committing brutal killings in the name of Islam. So, it is incumbent upon Muslims, scholars and clerics to preach and propagate the real message of Islam and defeat the nefarious designs of fanatics of maligning Islam,” he said.
The Islamic scholar urged that Muslims should declare a jihad (holy war) against terrorism. Radicals and zealots have unleashed a reign of terror which challenges the basic tenets of Islam of promoting peace and harmony.
“The ISIS has misused the Quran to spread hate and violence in the world. It is now the responsibility of Islamic nations to wage war against terrorists who are sullying the image of Islam,” he said.
Quoting the teachings of Prophet Mohammed, Madni said that ‘saving a human being was like saving humanity’.
