Mahila federation to stage dharna

Bharatiya Mahila Federation, has drawn up an elaborate strategy to counter the state government’s failures by holding demonstrations and dharnas, which will start with forcing to implement the Food Security Act at the earliest.

Earlier, the demonstration by the women organisation was slated after Diwali but due to the panchayat polls, it has now been postponed till December.  The newly elected president of the Federation,  Asha Mishra, said here on Saturday that her Organisation will not let any issue die and will stage dharna and demonstrations at all levels.

Mishra was elected president of the Federation for next three years during the just concluded 20th state conference held at Faizabad in November 7-8.  The president said that it is unfortunate that even after two years of implementation of the Food Security Act in the country, State has failed to provide benefits to the poor.” UP government is not sincere to transfer benefits to the poor but we will force them to do it at the earliest,” she said.

Recently State government had announced to implement the Food Security Act in all the 75 districts at one go from next fiscal year.  Mishra said that the convention in Faizabad had also passed resolution in support of the women reservation bill pending in the Parliament besides passed resolutions on the Anganbari workers and against the communal forces.

“BJP after making it a poll issue in 2014 failed to comply the women reservation bill in the parliament even when they have full majority in the lok Sabha,” she said while adding that the Federation has demanded better facilities and wage hike of the Anganbari workers and the cooks engaged in the midday meal.  She said that the communal forces are again raising their heads in a big way in UP but the present Samajwadi Party government has failed to crush them.” The recent festival season had witnessed several incidents of communal violence in the State which is unprecedented and it was an effort by some communal political parties to polarise the voters,” she alleged.
