Mahendra Nath questions Mayawati over Bangladeshis living in India

Published on:

State BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey questioned whether BSP chief Mayawati was trying to protect illegal residents from Bangladesh by supporting those who intruded into the country and were availing facilities which only Indians should avail. “The BSP chief’s blatant support to Bangladeshis living illegally in our country is unfortunate. She should know that National Registrar of Citizens (NRC) was carried out under directions of Supreme Court but no government could muster courage to carry out the survey.

It was only the BJP which issued the NRC report,” Pandey said in a statement issued in lucknow on Tuesday. The BJP leader said that residents of Assam had carried out a sustained campaign against Bangladeshis illegally residing in India. “Where was Mayawati at that time ij Hundreds of youth sacrificed their lives for the cause. When the mission attained its goal in the form of NRC, now leaders are opposing it,” he said. Pandey said that the BSP president has joined hands with Congress to protect these illegal residents, keeping an eye on vote bank for the coming lok Sabha elections. “The minority community has a history of being patriotic and they will not fall in the trap of BSP chief,” he said.
