Mahan Dal in dilemma over fielding DP Yadav from Badaun

Mahan Dal, having adjustment with Congress on three Parliaments seats is in dilemma over fielding of mafia don turned politician DP Yadav from Badaun. Mahan Dal, which is already having alliance with DP Yadav, led Rastriya Parivartan Dal (RPD), is finding it in catch-22 situation as they wanted to field Yadav, but the Congress has warned that if anyone would be allowed to contest on any other `symbol’ than the Party would end their alliance and would go ahead and also field in the three Parliament constituencies which they left for Mahan Dal.

``Yes, we are still having alliance with DP Yadav’s party and we also organised a joint rally with RPD in Badaun on March 12, a week after they entered into alliance with Congress on three Parliament seats’, confirmed vice-president of the Mahan Dal, Paras Nath Maurya, while talking to media persons here at Press Club on Thursday afternoon. He was replying to a query that whether they were having any alliance with DP Yadav or had ended the tie after they reached to agreement with Congress.

However, when asked whether they would allow DP Yadav to contest on RPD ticket from Badaun even after Congress warning that they will end the alliance in that case, Mahan Dal leader denied it. ``No, they would only give ticket to DP Yadav if he will contest on Mahan Dal’s symbol", claimed Maurya while adding that if Yadav would contest on RPD ticket on the seats on which they were having alliance with the Congress than their tie with DP Yadav, would be deemed to have ended. However, he said that

despite of Congress’s objection, they would continue to have alliance with RPD if DP Yadav would contest on Mahan Dal’s symbol or would contest on it’s own Party symbol from any other constituency leaving Etah, Badaun and Nagina.

Maurya also announced that Mahan Dal had given ticket from Nagina (reserved) seat to Dr Bhagwan Das Rathore. He claimed that Rathore remained MP on Janta Dal ticket

from Haridwar in the 6th lok Sabha and again won from Khurja Parliament constituency on Bharatiya lok Dal ticket in the 9th Parliament. He claimed that in last Parliament elections also they had adjustment on two Parliament seats from Congress and their candidate Mehboob Saqlain scored more than 70,000 votes from Anwla lok Sabha constituency.
