Uttar Pradesh Minority Welfare Minister Dharmpal Singh said here on Tuesday that the survey of madrasas in the state had been completed and the government would soon take a policy decision based on the inputs received in the survey.
“The survey of madrasas in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh ended on Tuesday and the report of the 15 remaining districts has been submitted to the government. Now the findings of the survey will be discussed in a meeting with the officials of the Minority Welfare department,” Dharmpal Singh said.
The minister said that special attention had been given to the madrasas which were operating in contravention of the law. “We have given special attention to the madrasas in the state which have been running against government norms and now we will decide the next move,” he added.
A month ago, on October 12, Minority Welfare Minister Dharmpal Singh had said that there were 6,436 unrecognised madrasas in the state and the survey would be completed soon.
“The data of the survey will be made available to the government by November 15 by the district magistrates. The last date had to be extended as reports from some districts were not received as per schedule,” he had said.
As a political row has erupted over the survey, Singh clarified that this survey was conducted to improve the quality of education of the children of the minority communities.
Meanwhile, Javed Iftikhar, Chairman of UP Madarsa Board said that all the madrasas cooperated with the team of officials conducting the survey across the state.
He claimed that the Yogi Adityanath government r had succeeded in winning the confidence of the madrasas and the successful survey in 75 districts of the state had set a new milestone and it would go a long way in bringing madrasas into mainstream education and improving their teaching standards.
