Madhusudan Mistri would recommend to dissolve Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee

Congress general secretary and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, Madhusudan Mistri would recommend to dissolve Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee following dismal performance in the recent Parliament elections. However, the question over fate of state president, Nirmal Khatri, whether he would go or remain in the office is still in dark but sources said that he would neither quit nor Mistri would recommend his removal.
“I would recommend the high command to get the UPCC dissolved in wake of recent defeat and let the new team is to be constituted,” disclosed Mistri, soon after making one to one discussions with 18 of the candidates, who almost all had lost their deposits in the recent lok Sabha elections. Mistri, however, remained tight-lipped whether Khatri would be also removed or not.
Sources confirmed that Khatri, who along with Mistri had accepted their responsibility for the debacle, but would not quit and try to continue enjoy the power in the Organisation. During his last visit to UPCC office on occasion of death anniversary of former prime minister, Rajeev Gandhi, Khatri, though not officially said that whether he would quit or not, but had gave his mind that he was not going to leave on his own and that he had some grudges and reasons for Party’s defeat, which he would not like to share with media but would register it as and when he would met the high command, i.e Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi. He also hinted that he would dissolve his State committee also, to pave way a new team, which on Thursday has been also supported by Mistri.
Sources said that Khatri, also had a positive point in his defense that if he had not given any time to UPCC or the Party during this election, even Mistri, who is deemed to be one of the Rahul’s close lieutenant, too not spared any time for the Party here in UP, and just concerted on his own election in Vadodara, which he lost with highest margin by BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi in this Parliament election. Interestingly, on Thursday, while talking to media persons, Mistri, not showed any sign of defeat, but confidently said that he achieved for what he contested against Modi. ``Before contesting against Modi, I had clearly said that Modi would not made victory with any record margin in the history of lok Sabha elections and that he would not forfeit his desposit, which
I successfully done”, Mistri said while confirming that now he would not contest by-polls in Vadodara or anywhere else as he was already a Rajya Sabha MP.
Mistri along with Khatri reviewed the first phase of the meeting attended by 19 party candidates, who lost the lok Sabha elections in eastern and central parts of the state, here on Thursday. In the meeting, the candidates blamed the weak Congress organisation, lack of coordination between the state leadership
and the candidates besides aggressive campaigning by the BJP, reason for the party’s defeat, disclosed Mistri. He said that the Party was in discussion mode in revamping the party after the lok Sabha elections.
Mistri also defended party’s vice- president Rahul Gandhi. “Our president Sonia Gandhi and vice- president Rahul Gandhi have already taken the responsibility of the defeat and certainly they will take some corrective measures in future,” he said.  He also denied that during the today’s meeting the candidates or the leaders demanded active role of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the party organisations.  When he was asked to comment whether he got enough time to
strengthen the state organisation, Mistri said that,” I got just 10 months time but still all the district organisations were made active before the lok Sabha elections.”
The AICC general secretary announced that he will disclose the real substance of the Gujarat model of Narendra Modi in the Rajya Sabha very soon.” People of the country should know the real picture of the Gujarat model,” he stated. When he was asked to comment on his comparison with BJP’s Amit Shah, the Congress leader said that,” how could there be a comparison between me and Amit Shah.”  “ I am nothing against him as what he could do, I could never do in my life,”he stated. The party will hold second phase of meeting with the loosing candidates in New Delhi on Friday while the third and last phase of discussions would also take place in New Delhi on June 3.
