In a recent revelation, the Har Ghar Tiranga abhiyan initiated by the Bharatiya Janata Party witnessed the hoisting of the national tricolour at only 21 per cent of the party’s booths across the state.
The findings have come to light in an internal survey of the party which was discussed at the party forum on Thursday.
“Despite the BJP’s directives to hoist the national flag at all party booths, the implementation fell short of expectations. The party had not only instructed the organisation of the flag hoisting programme but also emphasised to upload the event’s photos on the designated portal,” a senior party leader told this reporter.
He said among the 1,61,203 booths across the state, the campaign was conducted at 34,642 booths, accounting for a mere 21.48 per cent of the total booths.
Intriguingly, numerous booths displayed the national flag at multiple locations, culminating in a total of 56,064 such instances. The conscientious efforts of party members translated into the submission of 93,059 photographs on the portal, encapsulating the spirit of the initiative. Impressively, over 13.14 lakh dedicated party workers participated actively in these nation-revering programmes.
Insiders indicated that the Awadh region emerged as a frontrunner in executing the door-to-door tricolour campaign, thus reflecting the region’s commitment to the cause. Among the districts within Awadh, Barabanki earned recognition for its exceptional efforts.
However, the city of Lucknow lagged in this nationwide endeavour. “It is disheartening to know that the capital city’s performance was less than satisfactory,” the leader said.
Out of a total of 399 booths in Malihabad, merely 200 hoisted the national flag. Similarly, Bakshi Ka Talab recorded 123 out of 478 booths participating in the event, while Sarojininagar exhibited participation of only 85 out of 578 booths.
Other assembly constituencies in Lucknow like Lucknow West, Lucknow North, Lucknow East, and Lucknow Central reported only partial success, with the programme being organised at 46, 65, 50 and 20 booths, respectively. Lucknow Cantonment saw 24 out of 328 booths participating in the event, and Mohanlalganj recorded 89 out of 352 booths hoisting the national flag.
“The findings suggest that while the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign ignited patriotic fervour across the state, there remains room for further widespread participation and implementation of the campaign, particularly in certain constituencies of Lucknow,” the leader said.
