“The Medanta Hospital has emerged as a brand in medicare and is rated just behind the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). A super speciality hospital like Medanta will certainly give a new identity to lucknow. Not only the affluent, Medanta will also provide specialised treatment to poor patients as well,” the Chief Minister said.

Yadav added, “The Samajwadi Party government is working for a balanced development of all sectors in UP. Our state is one of the bigger states with a population of over 21 crores. The SP government has strived to provide quality healthcare at minimal price by offering several tests at government hospitals for free. like Medanta, a Cancer Institute is also on the anvil, so are two international stadiums and an IT hub in the area.”

In his address, SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for once lauded the efforts made by the Chief Minister for developing the state.

“When renowned cardiologist Dr Naresh Tehran decides to set up a super speciality hospital in lucknow, it means that UP is on the right road in providing better healthcare to the people. Even primary health centres are well-equipped and are providing good medicare,” the SP supremo said.

Appreciating his son for the good work done by his government, Mulayam Singh Yadav added, “UP has a large population and people’s expectations are huge. The SP government has achieved in three years, what others could not have delivered in their full tenure.”

The SP chief stressed that his party, by implementing people-friendly policies, had fulfilled lohia’s cherished concept of ‘Roti, kapda sasti ho, dawa, padhai muft ho’ (Food and clothing should be cheap, and medicine, education should be free).

Referring to a report which ranked UP third in terms of development, Mulayam said the state deserved a better rank as it had progressed in all sectors.

“No other state has undertaken welfare measures for farmers, girls and the needy as has been done by the SP government in UP,” he claimed.

Earlier, renowned cardiac surgeon and Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta Hospital, Dr Naresh Trehan welcomed the guests and gave details about  the proposed hospital.
