LS election: SBSP demands 5 seats from BJP in UP

Published on:

Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), an ally of ruling Bharatiya Janata party in Uttar Pradesh, has demanded five seats in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Arvind Rajbhar, son of Cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, met BJP’s UP in-charge JP Nadda here on Wednesday and demanded at least five seats for his party in the coming election.

Sources said the SBSP made it clear that if it did not get the demanded seats, it would not hesitate in parting ways with the BJP.

Nadda said that he would communicate the SBSP demand to BJP president Amit Shah.

In the absence of Om Prakash Rajbhar, who is convalescing in Medanta Hospital, his son Arvind had met Nadda.

Sources in SBSP told this reporter that the party may come down to three seats but any offer below this number will not be acceptable to the party.

There are rumours that Amar Singh may contest election from Azamgarh as SBSP candidate. But the SBSP leadership refused to confirm this.
