The office of lokayukta on Friday confirmed disposing off 3083 complaints in the last year.
The lokayukta office received 3393 complaints during 2016 but majority of them were not filed as per guidelines mentioned in the lokayukta Act. Sources claimed that officials had tried to get these complaints duly filed by directly contacting complainants but still a large number remained incomplete which stopped the lokayukta from starting even preliminary enquiry in 2867 complaints.
Reports further said that the lokayukta office completed probe in 216 matters and sent reports to the state government for further action. The office claimed to have disposed off 3083 complaints in 2016.
Outgoing lokayukta Juctice (Retd) NK Mehrorta, whose term ended in the end of 2016, recommended action against many officials after finding charges prima facie true but the then Samajwadi Party government either shelved them or asked the Vigilance Establishment to further probe the matter before taking action
