lightning snuffed out the lives of 19 people in Chitrakut in the last 72 hours with 10 being killed on Sunday itself. Over half a dozen others were still battling for their lives after being critically injured.
Heavy rains and lightening struck in Rajapur, Mau and Karvi areas of Chitrakoot in which 10 persons including women and children were killed on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Shiv Kumari (42), Urmila Prajapati (24), Shiv Kumari (40), Deepa Yadav (32), Sukhveer (13) of Rajapur, Manju Devi (32), Sarina (13), Samriya Devi (14), Ram Dhiraj (25) of Mau and Anil Kumar (13) of Karvi. Amogst the injured, the conditions of Sunita (35), Soni (13) and Nirmala Devi (25) of Rajapur, were stated to be critical.
On Friday and Saturday too, lightening struck these areas claiming nine lives while four others were injured and had to be hospitalised.
