Left parties  back traders' bandh call

Published on:

Left parties have extended support to the traders’ call for 'bandh' on September 28.

Communist Party of India's state secretary Girish Sharma and Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary Heeralal Yadav in a joint statement said that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Union government aimed at handing over trade, employment and industries to foreign companies by allowing FDI in retail market.

"The decision will render several crore traders, shopkeepers and employees jobless and it will be the worst phase of Indian economy. Companies like Wall-Mart will devour all Indian companies as was seen in the Flipkart case," the Left leaders said.

They pointed out that prices of diesel and petrol were skyrocketing and Indian currency had become weaker as compared to US dollar.

"We need to bury our differences and fight with full force to oppose the anti-people decisions of the BJP government. We appeal to the people to make the bandh a success," the two leaders said.
