Defending union government’s land Acquisition Ordinance Union Cabinet Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Kalraj Mishra said it was in favour of farmers and the Government was ready to debate on this issue with opposition or any organisation. “The people who are opposing the ordinance are only politicizing the issue. They are back-stabbing the farmers only because of political reasons,” Mishra told reporters here on Tuesday.
He said when Government brought this ordinance many non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members seconded the amendments saying the amended land Acqisition Act was best for the farmers. The law was made after taking their advice but now they are opposing the bill, Mishra said. “To build a consensus Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Rural Development Minister Virendra Singh have asked for advices from the groups opposing the Bill. Instead of giving advice they are busy in staging protest against the government,” he said. Mishra said that the ordinance is clear that the government will acquire land only for the development work like education, power generation and health. In case of private sector, companies will have to talk to farmers directly. The government will give compensation four times the market rate or it will be according to the deal between the farmer and the company. Mishra also rejected the charges made by social worker Anna Hazare that the ordinance is against the farmers and said that if the ordinance is against the farmers he should pin-point the fallacies and advice proper amendments.
On the issue of bringing back the black money Mishra said that the government has not taken a U-turn on this issue. An SIT has been formed and the PM has taken a strict steps to stop corruption. Hitting out at state government Mishra said that the Samajwadi Party (SP) has failed in controlling law and Order. “The Samajwadi Party will pay for its mis-governance and BJP will form government in Uttar Pradesh with full majority in 2017 polls,” he said.
