To further give a boost to the One District One Product (ODOP), the ambitious scheme of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath , the state’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Export Promotion department, on Wednesday, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Koo App.

On the occasion, Additional Chief Secretary (MSME and Export Promotion) Navneet Sehgal said that the association with Koo was aimed at promoting the state’s ODOP products to a larger audience and drive conversations around ODOP in several regional languages.

As part of the MoU, Koo, through its platform, will raise awareness and promote the ODOP content and products in 10 different languages. Furthermore, Koo will also procure ODOP gifts for corporate gifting purposes.

The MoU will also enable greater reach and communication of the welfare programmes and schemes of the UP-ODOP, especially for non-English speaking residents as well as help the local artisans to reach a wider audience and grow their business across the country.

The MoU was signed and exchanged between Navneet Sehgal and Aprameya Radhakrishna, co-founder and chief executive officer of Koo.

Praising the efforts of the state government towards empowering local artisans, Aprameya Radhakrishna said that UP had emerged as a leader in promoting local products globally through the ODOP initiative.

“It is Koo’s pleasure to contribute to helping local artisans by taking their craft and promoting it to the rest of India in various languages,” Radhakrishna said.

The One District, One Product (ODOP) scheme of the UP government is aimed at encouraging indigenous and specialised products and crafts made by local artisans, and helping them with marketing and branding with a larger motive to increase their incomes and generate higher employment. The initiative has also been adopted by the Central government and other states across the country.
