In yet another major blow to deteriorating morale of the Khakhi in Uttar Pradesh, district police chief of Jalaun, N Kolanchi was shunted out from the district just as he tried to comply with the orders of his own director general of police Zaveed Ahmed.
The officer sent a police team to check goons who were not just involved in illegal mining but had clashed with the villagers who raised objection. The miscreants held police team which included a circle officer captive and also brutally assaulted them before they were rescued by their colleagues. However, the district SP N Kolanchi, who tried to take stern action against the culprits who attacked police team and local villagers has to pay price just as the miscreants belongs to a `particular caste’ and the local Samajwadi Party MlA also joined them during their demonstration demanding action against policemen.
State government, irrespective of the fact that the local SP was making compliance of the order of his own DGP, shunted him out and posted Babloo Kumar as the new district police chief of Jalaun on Wednesday evening. The move was made by the government just to appease members of particular caste. However, what surprised the entire police community is the silence of DGP Zaveed Ahmed over removal of N Kolanchi. It may be mentioned that just earlier this month, Zaveed Ahmed sent a circular directing the district police chiefs to take stern action against all those anti-social elements who made attack on policemen as it was severely deteriorating the morale of the Khakhi.
According to reports from Jalaun, one Hari Mohan Yadav, was involved in illegal mining of sand at Bandhauli area of Dakaur in Jalaun. Some local villagers reportedly objected to the mining after the local administration refused to take cognizance of the matter. The matter took an ugly turn on Wednesday morning when some villagers went to object illegal mining with Hari Mohan Yadav. When Yadav threatened the villagers not to come in his way, one of the villagers reportedly hit a stick on his head. This led to brutal attack on the villagers. The goons of Hari Mohan Yadav opened fire in which four villagers Gajendra Rajput (20), Bhal Chandra (22), Pran Singh (36) lakshman (22) all received bullet injuries and were critically injured.
Reports said that the attack on the above agitated the villagers who than retaliated setting ablaze three trucks, two Bolero and some other vehicles engaged in illegal mining. In the meantime, constables Dharmendra and Harendra Bhadhuriya reached the spot after getting the information but they were brutally assaulted by goons of Hari Mohan Yadav and also taken away on a Boloero. Circle officer (City), who learnt of the attack on cops rushed to the spot on directions of SP Jalaun, N Kolanchi. However, he too was attacked along with cops accompanying him. later when senior officers rushed with heavy police force, they somehow rescued the police team and tried to control the violence.
However, the cops move received a blow after supporters of Hari Mohan Yadav, blocked Rath-Orai highway demanding stern action local officers. later instead of taking action against the goons for attacking the police team and the villagers, state government shunted out N Kolanchi, and posted another officer. Though the move of government to facilitate those involved in illegal mining and attack on them had led to tension in the area but senior officers including DGP Zaveed Ahmed had so far not intervened into the matter and preferred to maintain a `silence’.
