With an aim to providing easy market for farmers where they could sell their produce as well as purchase farm equipment, the state government is all geared to set up Kisan Bazars on the lines of Agri Marts. The Agri Marts were set up by the UP State Agro Industrial Corporation while Kisan Bazar would be monitored by Mandi Parishad in collaboration with Agriculture department
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will inaugurate the Kisan Bazar in lucknow on December 19 which will be shortly followed by two more bazars at Saifai (Etawah) and Mainpuri probably by January next. More such kisan bazaars would be opened in Kannauj and Kasganj after that. Sources said in these bazaars, farmers will get all farm products at cheaper rates and will also find an easy market to sell their produce. The bazar will also have cheap guest house facility besides a food court. The kisan bazars will also have outlets for handloom and handicrafts products.
“These malls will cater to the need of farmers, who are looking for an entire package of farm implements, seeds, fertilisers, tractors and veterinary products available from a centralised shopping facility. The UP State Agro Industrial Corporation will also find easy clients for them under one roof,” the official said.
The Corporation had establish the first Agri Mart in Hardoi on January 20 with two more retail formats being planned in Hapur and Gorakhpur. The Corporation had tied-up with NAFED for its funds as well as help in national agricultural marketing.
